Furthermore, you can provide a sense of purpose and direction for the upcoming week by incorporating goal-setting into your Sunday reset routine. Doing this lets you focus on meaningful tasks and maintain motivation and productivity throughout the week.
Lastly, Sunday planning can help you take the time to unwind and recharge, which can help your overall well-being. You can do this by integrating different self-care activities, such as taking a bubble bath, wearing a face mask, journaling for a clear mind, and more.
Sunday Reset Checklist: Planning Your Week in 9 Steps
Now that we’ve gone over the benefits of establishing a Sunday night routine, I will share with you my steps to help you planning out your week.
Step #1 – Do At Least One Self-Care/Relaxation Activity
Whether you’re a busy professional, a student, or a parent, it’s essential to prioritize self-care routine and relaxation, which are critical components of a healthy, balanced life. And doing this on a Sunday night can help get your upcoming week off to a great start.

Step #3 – Set Your Weekly Goals
Once you have planned all the non-negotiables, you can shift your focus to set your weekly goals. Planning this on Sunday night will give you the head start you need to make progress each day.
First and foremost, remember that you are only setting goals for the week, so they need to be achievable in that time frame.
So, if you have an overarching goal to lose thirty pounds, your weekly goals could look like this:

Step #5 – Clean Up Your Home
Part of my Sunday night routine is tidying up the house to have a clean and fresh start into the week. The weekends get so busy and I’m hardly at home (and honestly that’s how it should be, there are better things to do than cleaning).
Starting your week with a messy house can make you feel overwhelmed and frustrated, that’s why I highly suggest to do a quick tidy up Sunday night. Even just 20 minutes make a big difference!
Step #6 – Budget For The Week
That goes hand in hand with your shopping list and meal plan. You don’t want to be spending unnecessary money due to lack of organization.
Think about how much you can/want to spend and plan accordingly. Are you going into the office or working from home? How much food do you need? Do you need to fill up your car with fuel or plan on costs for public transport?
Step #7 – Prepare For The Week
Preparing for the week can be anything to help you have a smoother start into the week on Monday morning:
- Have your clothes ready (you might need to iron some)
- Empty your handbag and re-organize
- Get your work stuff ready
- Clean out your car
- Polish your nails
- Do meal prep
- Etc.
Step #8 – Turn Off Your Phone
Phones are our biggest distraction when it comes to being productive! How often did you just want to check one message or one email, but instead got sucked into reading news, stories, and posts on social media? Before you know it, 20 minutes have gone by and you haven’t achieved anything.
Cell phones are even more of an issue in the evening, when you want to wind down for a good and peaceful sleep. Being on social media prevents your mind from coming to rest and it will take you ages to fall asleep.
Additionally, the blue light emitted by electronic devices can interfere with your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.
So, turn off your phone/put it on flight mode or alternatively, put it on silent and place it somewhere out of sight.
Tip #9 – Get A Good Night’s Sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for overall well-being and boosting your immune system. And it is necessary when you’re trying to start your week off on the right foot.
You can promote restful sleep and a sense of calm by winding down before bed with relaxing activities such as reading, meditating, or taking a warm bath. These activities help signal to your brain that it’s time to relax and prepare for sleep, making it easier to drift off into a deep slumber.
Creating a comfortable sleep environment is also crucial for getting quality rest. Comfortable bedding, including pillows, sheets, and blankets, promotes a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.
Your bedroom should also be quiet and dark to minimize distractions and promote deeper sleep.
